"Trust" Sex and Relationship Education
"Trust" consists of integrated play and  workshops. It explores emotional health and wellbeing in relation to young people’s development. Sex & Relationship Education (SRE) and Mental & Emotional Literacy are so closely linked that although teenage pregnancy (encompassing all sexual health issues) is still a very important issue, it is not the sole topic involved. "Trust" is aimed at students in years 9 & 10 and tours nationwide. The project is written and directed by award winning playwright Andrew Alty, who has produced two series for the BBC and writes regularly for television and radio.

"The playground" is a nightclub and the nightclub is a playground.......

Unlike the typical TIE performance, where the audience is sitting watching a performance then invited to partake of workshops, the audience  will be sharing the acting space with the actors as the story unfolds in the nightclub. They may be standing or sitting during the action/dialogue which will happen all around them. After each section of story, the audience will be split into groups to discuss their views and opinions on the decisions the characters have made and to advise them on their next course of action.

The project is totally participatory in every sense and the audience will have influence on the characters and situations.

One teacher new to the project commented "This is wonderful, we’ve been looking for something like this for years."

Theatre is a powerful way of helping young people to study their relationships with their friends, partners and family. Who do you trust? How do you decide?
